Have been with NFU for many years. The premium isn't cheap but has a fixed excess and no percentage contribution. There are significantly fewer policy exclusions than other 'market leaders' and claims are paid very quickly with no quibble. Staff are helpful and considerate. Renewals are fairly stable, however there is a NCD included which can disappear following a claim - which could lead to an increase. However premiums are comparable with similar policies. My only slight niggle is that £4000 vet fees seems a little low these days. A major surgical procedure plus tests could put you close to this limit. It is worth mentioning though that the limit is per condition, per year (on the lifetime cover) so if unfortunate enough to have claims for more than one condition, potentially the amount paid could be higher - unlike other policies which have a limit for all vet fees incurred in the year.

NFU Mutual is pricey but worth it. I have made several claims with them, they do not question it or hesitate, they have paid out every time. Of course my excess went up after a hefty bill one year, which i completely understand, but they are the easiest insurance company i have ever dealt with

I have all my pets with NFU including my beagle dog and my 15hh cob who have both had a lot of illnesses between them over the years. NFU have never questioned a claim and paid out very fast without any fuss. recently we lost our beagle and the customer services were so lovely even when I broke down on the phone trying to tell them what happened. they have paid out in full and helped us not worry about how to pay thousands of pounds in vets bills. I will definitely go back to them again if we ever get another dog in the future.
Had a traumatic weekend where we thought we would say goodbye to one of our three dogs. After many tests and exploratory procedures he made a full recovery. Insurance claim submitted and paid with no fuss and we were phoned to make sure we had received the cheque in settlement!
Might be slightly more expensive but you get what you pay for. No huge rise in premium and excellent service. No call centre, local office with one person who deals with your claim. What more could you ask??
