Woeful customer service and threatening letter Sue, 3/15/2018

Absolutely disgusted with m&s bank! Had pet insurance for our dog for a number of years and sadly had to have him put to sleep on 22 December 2017. Rang and told them of this and was advised to cancel direct debit. Today I’ve received a letter advising we owe them £170 and are now subject to a default notice!!!! Never claimed a penny over the years and paid in excess of £50 per month. Come on m&s where’s your compassion

Were OK with me Paul, 2/27/2018

Our dog was insured with AF for several years but had a bad year with a troublesome paw infection and needed a stay at the vets with pancreatitis. Although it was difficult to check (their statements group stuff together in a way I still don't understand) they paid out what was due and pretty quickly. I think it helps if your vet's admin staff are on the ball. However, since he's nine now, they have doubled the premium if we want to renew so it's not all good.

2 x excess for single op! Emily, 2/23/2018

My lab had an op to remove two lumps, I have been charged 2 x my £200 excess can’t believe they’ve classed it as two claims just because the lumps have come back different one lipoma and one hamartoma. Ridiculous how they can get out of paying and probably they’ll put my premiums up this year to cover the amount they’ve paid out. Been a customer for over 8 year won’t be renewing and certainly won’t recommend 😡

Organised Chaos Jacquie, 2/9/2018

I have been with Tesco for a number of years. This year I noticed that they were overcharging me by £11 per month via direct debit, writing to me advising of a refund and then refunding it into my bank account. This has gone on for 10 months, they then wrote to me and said my policy had been cancelled, in the same post I had a second letter saying they were refunding £1,800 to my bank account. I contacted them, they denied the policy was cancelled, said that it had just been set up again and the funds paid had been transferred into it, However, in doing this they created arrears and sent money demanding letters. This has been going on for weeks. Like most other on here have found, the increases in premiums are ridiculous, just under £2Kk per year for 2 Labradors. Here is some good news, there is a new company called `bought by many` their terms are more favourable, they do insure existing conditions and they are a third of the price. Check it out, I have and its bye bye chaotic tesco!

NOT to be recommended Jonathan, 2/8/2018

We have had our dog insured on the Superior policy for six years. March 2017 we made a claim for a short stay in hospital for a stomach upset. The total bill was £512 of which ASDA pet insurance paid only £292, and that was after numerous phone calls. We have just received our invitation to renew her policy which has gone up by 72% from £552 to £951. We have of course advised them as to where to put their renewal !

Peace of Mind Janet Smith , 2/6/2018

So pleased we had the Vetsure insurance. Its fantastic that the vets deal direct in the event of a claim More importantly it was very easy and speedy process when we had to use the Emergency vets and make a claim Thank you - Vinnie is now (eventually!) on the road to recovery! Excellent insurance and I recommend to everyone!

No nonsense set up Justin , 1/16/2018

Quick and easy to set up and great prices too. Better cover for my old girl with her arthritis for 200 pound less than my renewal

Best insurance I’ve ever used Jazz, 1/11/2018

My pet was unexpectedly diagnosed with heart failure at the age of 4 and referred as an emergency to a specialist unit. I rang Vetsure and found them caring and very understanding of my situation whilst remaining professional. They have proved amazing during this awful experience and kept in contact regularly. They could not have been more helpful and the fact that they have settled the vets bills directly has been wonderful during this very upsetting time. I have already recommended them to three people and will happily continue to do so. My dog will need medication for whatever time he has left and it has been a comfort to know that unlike some insurers he will continue to be covered for this distressing illness. My vet recommended Vetsure after a bad experience with our previous company who more than trebled our premiums after claiming a relatively small amount. I am so grateful that they did .

Easy to set up. Julie, 1/3/2018

Clear website, simple to understand which cover I wanted, Seems very good value for the basic "just in case" cover, although I hope I never need to use it! Other companies look at my (healthy) 9 year old dog and would like to charge me the earth.

Great Service Bow, 12/5/2017

I had been with the same insurer for the past 10 years when it was time for my last annual renewal they informed of a large increase and would not negotiate. I approached Lifetime and they provided me with a suitable deal. Lifetime are very helpful and the service was excellent. I will definitely recommend.

Competitive and easily understood cover David , 12/1/2017

New to LPC, spotted on comparison site and they stuck out a mile. My previous insurer price hike (after years of no claims) was simply not justified. I hope I never have to claim but re-assuring that its there if I need it.

Straightforward and much better than others Anne, 11/25/2017

Better price for what you get. However, I wish all pet insurance companies would stop listing so many crossbreeds as pedigrees - cockerpoos and labradoodles are NOT breeds! Please stay professional and accurate about crossbreeds.

Not worth the paper it's printed on Isobel Spadaro, 11/18/2017

I've been paying this policy at over £20 per month for five years without a claim. My dog has just been diagnosed with a tumour on her eye which needs immediate surgery and they won't pay a penny towards it. Basically they only cover your animal if they're run over. Absolute rip off I'm disgusted

Declined our claim after years of paying . They made up the story about our dog’s pre existed condition.... whaaaat???? After two vets opinion still.... I am reporting them to ombudsman!!!!!!!!!!!

Will do anything not to pay out Milly, 11/15/2017

Policy wording vague enough so they can avoid paying out for most things. Beware dental exclusion - means the won't pay for anything in the mouth area. Wouldn't pay for biopsies on lumps as said were first noticed a year earlier, even though weren't significant at that time.

Efficient, Effective, Caring and supportive Nettle, 11/9/2017

After the impromptu death of my beloved dog, despite having informed his insurer (Petplan), they bombarded me with calls about why I had cancelled the Direct debit, and policy! Not a word of condolence or apology was uttered from them in the 3 months this went on. So when we decided to get our new puppy ‘Nettle’ I called several pet insurance companies for quotes before deciding who to insure with. Having worked in a veterinary practice, I had heard of some of the pit falls of different policies and had to be careful with the company I chose to ensure I got the right level cover. When I spoke to Vetsure, they were incredibly helpful and explained the 3 lifelong policies in a straightforward and concise manner, all of my questions were answered in detail, leaving me in no uncertain terms of what I got … which is a great policy by the way! Vetsure, were competitively priced, worked directly with my local practice, offered simple and easy to understand policies, all lifelong. Because my practice doesn’t have a health plan I opted for the cover and care, so I can keep Nettle up to date with all her flea, worming, vaccines and spread the cost monthly. Super convenient- it was like I was telling them what I wanted and needed! It wasn’t long before puppy got into a stop of bother and I thought I was going to have to claim- Labradors are so greedy!! I contacted Vetsure just to ask what to do when I claim – I explained what had happened and the lovely lady on the phone couldn’t have been more reassuring and caring than if it was her own dog. By the time I had come off the phone, I was calmer, and what surprised me even more, the next time I rang – they remembered the incident (even though I didn’t need to claim) and asked how she had recovered….. NOW that’s customer service!!! Thank you Vetsure from Nettle and I x

Our pet insurance has continued to increase year after year starting at £13, currently paying £48 per month, received renewal today, going up to £87 per month. Absolutely disgusting - been a loyal customer but now they know we can not get any other cover because he is over 9 years old, they have nothing to lose.

Renewal hike Julie, 10/23/2017

Been with Tesco for 5 years and every year my policy has increase. Recieved renewal this week gone from 40 to 91 pounds within 12 months because i put in one claim. After speaking to them as a loyal customer so i though they could only still reduce to 75. Now cancelled with them.

Very happy Antonietta, 10/18/2017

I have been with Animal Friends for my former labrador and during the years all his ailments were paid for by the insurance. I have now a puppy which I immediately insured with them last May. About one month ago he had a problem with his rear leg. He had to have x rays and medication which all amounted to about 400 pounds. Submitted the claim and Animal Friends Insurance paid out within ten days the full amount minus the excess of £ 99.00 so I do not understand all these negative comments.

Rip Off Pet Insurance - DO NOT USE Mark Henderson, 10/17/2017

I have just received a renewal policy quote for my Labrador (George). The premium has gone up in the last 2 years from £24 to £36 and now £54.76. He has been diagnosed with epilepsy and as a result requires to take Epiphen daily at a monthly cost of £36, George is covered up to £4000 worth of costs which are paid in areas, we can only continue to claim providing we are still paying the insurance. The increases have now meant the insurance claims are practically useless as we are now paying £30 more since his diagnosis. I've ran him through and Tesco are quoting £23.99 for exactly the same cover. Clearly we are being penalised for claiming and the majority of Georges medication costs are being added back to my insurance cover. I've contact Tesco's only to be told that, the increases are due to Georges increasing age (7) and vet charges increasing. If this is the case why can I still get the insurance online for the same original price prior to his condition? This is nothing shocking of appalling treatment, they've taken my money for 7 years under false pretenses. They pay out then take the money back through increased premiums. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Mark

Good old fashioned, customer focused company Nat, 10/10/2017

I have a 5 year old Lab with no past or present health problems known. My renewal quote with Tesco just came in and it's gone up 30% from last year even though I've never had a single claim. I tried LPC and the quote was a bit cheaper, not loads and the cover limit was a little less than Tesco but their reviews are great and people say how personal the service is, not like the major insurers who take your business for granted. So far so good although an insurer only shows their true colours when you make a claim. I'm confident enough to give LPC the benefit of the doubt though.
